          • The name of this beauty says it all, it is a GIANT camera compared to all the rest in the ONDU Pinhole camera range. It makes images 8x10” in size and has proven itself all over the world to be a sturdy and functional camera. With the comeback of direct positive photographic paper this is a great tool for those who want to see their pictures immediately and like the big size it produces. The GIANTS are laser numbered and there is only a limited quantity of these cameras available at this time.

          •  The camera has a fixed focal length of 126mm and a pretty wide angle of view of 100° which means that it will take some getting used to while framing your first shots. To make this easier we have engraved vertical and horizontal field of view engraving lines as well as two levelling bulbs again vertical and horizontal, the same goes for tripod mounts, one vertical one horizontal.

          • The camera comes supplied with a magnetic snap on filter holder which takes standard 58mm filters and works on all three positions.

            We added two offset pinholes with an offset of 60mm for vertical and  50mm for horizontal positions. The 8x10”standard film back is secured to the camera via magnets and three wooden film retaining clips. All large formats are painted inside with a black matte acrylic paint and sealed with black flocking material to prevent any light leaks from entering the camera.

HANDCRAFTED TO PERFECTION

The camera is meticulously handcrafted out of walnut, maple and ash wood right in our workshop ensuring the best quality possible. With the blend of minimalisticand functional design paired with fine woodworking this camera will last for generations. Every camera is finished with two coats of natural oils with beeswax and buffed to achieve a perfect satin feel, which also protects the camera from the elements. 
The camera features two standard tripod mounts, horizontal and vertical field of view engraving lines for easier composition, two levelling bulbs and 8x10" film holder retaining clips.

ONDU EIKAN 4x5" Standard

is the lightest version of the camera with a rigid back and movable front standard. Perfect for a lighweight setup that will undobtedly be a perfect fit for most large format ohotographic adventures. It has a bellows range of 32cm and features a rear and front zeroing mechanism ensuring a quick and effortless intitial setup. This camera is the easiest entry for those starting their large format photography journey or photographers looking for a lightweight setup for their outdoor adventures as this model weighs 1500g and is a breeze to setup.  This camera will fit most large format needs. 

COMITTED TO CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Eikan is meticulously designed and crafted in Slovenia, within the European Union, to ensure exceptional quality. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in the use of high-quality components throughout the manufacturing process. Unlike some manufacturers who opt for plywood or laminates, we exclusively use solid walnut wood sourced locally. This choice not only enhances the aesthetics of the final product but also improves its capabilities.

Our skilled artisans handcraft the wooden components in our workshop, employing thick 5cm slabs of kiln-steamed and dried wood. This meticulous process takes approximately three months to complete and is crucial for ensuring the stability of the wood grain by releasing fiber tensions within the wood structure.

Even the knobs used for securing camera movements are custom-designed and made from anodized aluminum. These precision-engineered knobs are manufactured on a CNC lathe by the same reputable producer responsible for crafting aluminum components for ONDU Pinhole cameras over the past decade. It is important to note that we do not utilize 3D printed knobs in any ONDU cameras, whether in the past or future.

The modular aluminum structure of the Eikan is constructed from high-grade anodized aluminum, meticulously cut using laser technology and shaped with specialized CNC brake press machines. To enhance durability and minimize scratches and wear, all aluminum components undergo a hard anodizing treatment, which fortifies the outer layer.

While we employ 3D printing in certain areas, such as the front and back standard, as well as the rotating back and ground glass focusing screen carrier, it is done purposefully. The utilization of 3D printing provides an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio and allows for swift modifications and future upgrades, such as roll film back add-ons. These 3D printed parts are constructed using Carbon fiber reinforced PLA filament.

To maintain a high level of quality control and ensure a seamless user experience, we meticulously source all components and manufacturers within the same valley. With the exception of standard screws and magnets, nearly every component of the camera has been designed and fabricated from scratch. This deliberate approach eliminates technical compromises and delivers a product that surpasses expectations.
